WHO ARE WE?

Our School Inclusion Program began in 2006; it was the fruit of SESOBEL's collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the principal of Jezzine's Elementary Public School, where children can be schooled in an ordinary setting.

Two classrooms and an re-education room have been made ready.

Beneficiaries:

Any child with intellectual and/or motor disability, as well as children with learning difficulties. The children are received after a series of SESOBEL assessments.

To make them accessible, the classes are supplied with the necessary equipment: tables, wheelchair ramps, toilets, etc.

SESOBEL, like other private schools, orients children with disabilities.

The course to be taken

1) For children with intellectual disabilities:

SESOBEL's Family Reception Service in Ain el-Rihani conducts screening and diagnosis that allow children to benefit from the necessary consultations and examinations.

2) For children with learning difficulties:

A professional team in Jezzine conducts the application process.

During "partial inclusion", the children with intellectual disabilities share some activities like music, singing and physical education with children from regular schools. We ensure that children join appropriate age groups.

As for "Total inclusion", the children with learning disabilities are fully integrated into regular class work; however, they attend a special class when they need help with any subject.

In the special class, we follow the same programme as the official curricula, but we approach the concepts in accordance with children's capacity and pace.

Jezzine's SESOBEL takes care of children's "life path" as well:

Objectives: Education, Medical Monitoring, Socialization, Human and Spiritual Training.

That will reinforce acquisitions and raise self-independence.

 Our message for children's families

The role of families is essential. Parental guidance is effective when it comes to better cooperation as to holding responsibility and getting children to undergo life projects.
